Maggie Grace was born Margaret Grace Denig in September 21 1982. She is an American actress best known for her role as Shannon Rutherford in ABC TV show Lost. The couple had separated and she relocated with her mother to Los Angeles. The year 2001 was a difficult one for her, but despite financial struggles it was possible to land her first major performance in the video online series Rachel's Room playing the lead character. She went on to earn an Young Artist Award nomination in 2002 for her performance as the 15 year old murder victim Martha Moxley in the television movie Murder which aired in Greenwich. Grace Rutherford was the main actor in Lost during its initial two seasons. In 2004 she received the Screen Actors Guild Award with the entire ensemble. Grace quit the show in the year 2005, to take on the role of a greater part in movies, and had a role opposite Tom Welling as Kim Mills in Taken. As a part of the Gyllenhaal Family, she's the younger sister to the actor Jake Gyllenhaal. In her early teens, she played small parts in her father's movies and co-starred with her older sister in Donnie Darko which is a cult classic. She then appeared on the screen in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind as well as Mona Lisa Smile (both 2002). Gyllenhaal was praised by critics for her performance in the erotic romantic comedy drama Secretary (2002) and in the thriller Sherrybaby (2006) each of which brought her a Golden Globe Award nomination. In the wake of several successful commercial films like World Trade Center in 2006 her name was recognized more widely for her role as Rachel Dawes (the superhero) in The Dark Knight (2007).
