Maggie Grace was born Margaret Grace Denig in September 21 1982. She is an American actress best known for her role as Shannon Rutherford in ABC TV show Lost. The couple had separated and she relocated with her mother to Los Angeles. The year 2001 was a difficult one for her, but despite financial struggles it was possible to land her first major performance in the video online series Rachel's Room playing the lead character. She went on to earn an Young Artist Award nomination in 2002 for her performance as the 15 year old murder victim Martha Moxley in the television movie Murder which aired in Greenwich. Grace Rutherford was the main actor in Lost during its initial two seasons. In 2004 she received the Screen Actors Guild Award with the entire ensemble. Grace quit the show in the year 2005, to take on the role of a greater part in movies, and had a role opposite Tom Welling as Kim Mills in Taken. As a part of the Gyllenhaal Family, she's the younger sister to the actor Jake Gyllenhaal. In her early teens, she played small parts in her father's movies and co-starred with her older sister in Donnie Darko which is a cult classic. She then appeared on the screen in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind as well as Mona Lisa Smile (both 2002). Gyllenhaal was praised by critics for her performance in the erotic romantic comedy drama Secretary (2002) and in the thriller Sherrybaby (2006) each of which brought her a Golden Globe Award nomination. In the wake of several successful commercial films like World Trade Center in 2006 her name was recognized more widely for her role as Rachel Dawes (the superhero) in The Dark Knight (2007). In recognition of her role as an unmarried mother, in Crazy Heart (2009) she got a nomination in the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. After that, she went on to star in comedies and dramas like Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011) as well as Will Not Back Down (12). In addition, she was the role of a Secret Service Agent in White House Down which was an action thriller that was released in 2013. She also played as well as a singer on the set of Frank (2014) as well as her role as the main character on The Kindergarten Teacher, a drama that was released in the year of 2018. Gyllenhaal was first introduced as a writer and director in 2021, with her psycho-drama The Lost Daughter. For this movie, she received an award for the Best Screenplay Award at the Venice International Film Festival and was nominated for an Academy Award.
